Solis was looking at the entrance to the valley. Fergus looked around her and not seeing anything unusual, turned his attention back to the large dragon and said, “Solis, we will order the troops to bring the rest of the raiders to Margaret’s Cross for punishment. Can we beg a ride from you, to get there before the ship sails?”
Solis turned to Fergus and said, “Have your men mount up and bring your horses to Margaret’s Cross. You and Ramsey may ride with me along with your sisters. Leave all of the raiders here except the two little chicks. The Raiders have chosen to live in violence, let’s leave them to it. Take their weapons, they won’t need them.”
Fergus turned and gave his orders to his men, while Ramsey helped Heather and Lily up onto Solis's back. They watched as their troops began to go up the slope and out of the valley. Fergus and Ramsey came and settled behind the two girls. The two smaller dragons, Gabriel and Michael had Brice and Griffin already mounted on their backs. They stood next to Solis and watched as the last of the troops disappeared through the trees. The Raiders began to jeer and yell threats as soon as the men vanished from sight. Solis stood firm, then looked over her shoulder to the path out.
Wolves began to come out of the forest. Stepping forward into the sunlight. At first there were one or two, then fifteen now twenty. Lily thought it must have been over a hundred. Lily watched as one wolf step out to show himself clearly, it was Arrow. The wolves must have followed Fergus and the men here from Dunmore, and picked up some friends along the way
Solis turned to look at the now silent raiders and said, “May your next life be better spent.” She spread her wings and lifted off from the ground, Gabriel and Michael following close behind her. Lily’s last look at the valley as they disappeared over the top of the mountain, was the wolves running across the meadow after the fleeing men.
