This is a truly inspiring book for the person who is truly commited in their walk with Christ.
I felt deeply moved by the author's passionate appeal to let God be everything and in doing so the believer finding the reward of perfect peace.
The language used is vividly descriptive and draws the reader's spiritual perception into a more beautiful and meaningful depth.
I highly recommend this book.
Andrew Murray wrote good, sound Christian teaching in a time before Neo-Hinduism had invaded the church, and when the inner joy and peace available through the presence of the Indwelling Christ was not seen as weird and/or foreign. Don't read it unless you are prepared for an in-depth change in your thinking and your life. With today's world gyrating around us, Andrew Murray is a steadying influence.
If one wants to truly know and understand God more perfectly, and what it means to have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide the inward spirit, then you must read this book. It will change your life and give you a deeper desire to walk with and live for God, to trust Jesus with your whole life, and to depend upon the Holy Spirit to lead and to guide you into all truth.
Andrew Murray was a Pastor with the Dutch Reform Church in South Africa and went home to the Lord in 1913 and has written many books instructing tn the Christian faith. This short book was originally written for the new believer in our Lord Jesus Christ. I would strongly recommend this book to all new believers, but I strongly encourage all believers to read this book. It has insight for the new believer as well as the believer who has been walking with God for many years.
It has opened my eyes in many ways and I praise God for introducing me to Pastor Murray.
There are great difficulties in life. But as His children we must learn that God has a plan for us. Once again, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Andrew Murray speaks about the need for us to constantly seek The Lord. His view is that everything we encounter in life is sent to us by God. We must learn to accept these things and know that they come from a God who loves us at a level beyond anything we can fully understand now, but will see clearly in the life to come and in the deep peace we can experience today in our relationship with the living Lord.
Christians too often fail to share in the full blessings of God because they don’t fully commit to Him. The Christian life was never meant to be half-hearted. The indwelling of the Spirit of God is in us to guide us if we will let Him.
This is an excellent book on living a surrendered life. However, it bothered me that Murray rarely cites the Bible references he quotes. There were also many punctuation errors, and they were so inconsistent that I couldn’t just say it was because the book was written years ago. It is still a wonderful book, although I disagree with him on one point. I don’t think every bad thing that happens is the will of God. We live in a sinful, fallen world where people have the freedom to choose their own actions. Because of this, things happen that God would never will. He does not want evil. However, I do believe that He will use even the bad for good in the lives of His children as He promised. Despite this, I would recommend the book. The good far outweighs any problems. I gave it 4.5, which rounded up to a five.
Instead of stars I would like to give this book 5 AMENs!!!!! Christian Discipleship at its best! This book is truly a treasure and gift from above. I loved it!! I can't wait to re-read it and let this author's words and insight into the Divine bless me again. Did you know that there is a cut off point for highlights in ? Well, I found it when reading this book. I wanted to highlight everything it was so good. The Master's Indwelling by Andrew Murray is on my top shelf of favorite all time reads.
